Being a member of the LGBTQQIA* community is not easy, to make a vast understatement. I believe that being queer is a beautiful thing to be cherished and celebrated. I also know how rare that perspective can be in the world that we live in today. I believe you deserve to work with a therapist who can both be open to and understand the unique impact that growing up queer in a heterosexual society has on you, your life, and your choices.
My clinical internship was with Seattle Counseling Service. The wide variety of LGBTQQIA clients that I worked with during that time honored me with their trust, and shared their willingness to move forward in their work as individuals or couples. Each of them wrestled with how to live a life of integrity, in a world that often denied who we are and how we love.
